This month’s theme for the Gardening Gone Wild Photo Contest is “best frame”. This is probably my most favorite plant photo that I’ve taken to date… saucer magnolias at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, CA. I used it as my iPhone background for a while even. It’s simple, and yet, breathtaking with the contrast of flowers against the blue sky. Click to embiggen.
This month’s Picture This entry is due tomorrow, and I decided to enter an old photo, rather than a new one. I visited the Powerscourt Gardens while in Ireland a few years ago, and there was an astonishing variety of gorgeous garden arrangements. I loved this scene of foliage next to a waterfall, which fits perfectly with this months theme of ‘green’. Also, many of the entries I’ve seen are macro, which is my style of choice, and I wanted to showcase something different.
While I’m still working on the layout, there’s no reason why I can’t post some content. My friend Keren and I went up to the SF Botanical Gardens for their plant sale earlier in the month. I took my SLR to do some photography while we were there. Though I can garden year round in Northern California, the budding magnolias are an optimistic sign of spring!
Also, hello folks from Gardening Gone Wild. This is my entry into this month’s “Picture This” contest.
